Theoretical Orientation
Our center serves the Triangle with specialties in:
- Women's Sexual health: desire disorders (not being in the mood), orgasmic disorders (difficulty with either climax or becoming aroused), dyspareunia (pain in intercourse), vaginismus, frequency disparity, weight and self-image, infidelity aftermath, sexual molestation, depression and libido, and effects of partner's impotence, early ejaculation, prostate cancer or other difficulties.
- Couples Therapy: couples needing intimacy, conflict containment, power struggles, approach/avoidance cycles, developing empathy, couple's sex therapy, early- and pre-marital adjustment.
- Women's individuation: developing her own voice, separation and boundaries, connection versus dependency, developmental life-stage transitions.

Laurie J. Watson, LPC, LMFT
Clinical Director
Laurie is a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor and licensed Marriage and Family Therapist whose orientation in therapy assumes that a person is primarily motivated toward connection, relationship, and intimacy. Therapy offers a chance to enhance life in the present by discovering the recurring patterns from the past that create current marital problems. problems are frequently an indicator of a couple jointly maintaining an impaired level of intimacy. While some issues are resolved with education, insight and technique, other problems offer a couple an opportunity to fundamentally change their relationship.
